This year, we offered four nominated award categories: Remarkable Page Layout, Extraordinary Report Writing, Excellent Use of UDF, and Brilliant Use of System Tools. In addition, we offered two Decade nominated awards: Outstanding Performance in Implementation and Influential Innovation.

More than anything, this category is about results. The nominee has utilized the page layout editing tool to increase efficiency, anticipate the user’s experience, ease staff training, reduce data entry time, or remove complexity by simplifying workflows.
The San Bernardino County Environmental Health Department received this award for their Foodborne Illness UDFs. They leveraged EnvisionConnect’s flexible UDF system to tailor their data collection to meet their needs in the FBI program. They took advantage of the two possible meanings of “F” in UDF, and used both User Defined Fields and Forms. They also added six fields to the complaint table, and linked a new form to a table (with 85 fields of its own) to collect individual involved person data. Through this project, they gained demonstrated the elasticity and effectiveness of the system.

This category highlights innovative or practical ways agencies take the information they put into EnvisionConnect and put it to work! Extraordinary reports start with collecting useful data and end with reports that benefit staff, managers, or customers.
Pooran Singh of the Placer County Environmental Health Department took it upon himself to develop and deliver a report that met Placer County’s detailed accounting requirements. By customizing his report, this allowed EnvisionConnect to automate and deliver specific financial information that the Accounting Department needed.
Nominees demonstrate creative, practical, or innovative ways the user defined fields are applied in their system. UDFs help to solve problems, gather new data, or improve efficiency.
The San Bernardino County Environmental Health Department absolutely deserved winning the Excellent Use of UDF Award. They wanted to collect information regarding pools and spas water testing component and the facilities unique attributes to track volume and AB1020. To ensure to collect the information and have it display on inspection reports. They added a small set of UDFs to the Daily and General Health Program records, added the fields to page layout, and customized the 0290 report to display the information. They demonstrated just how much you can tailor EnvisionConnect to meet independent agency needs and create comprehensive solutions.

An excellent use of system tools comes from branching out externally to get feedback and services outside of EnvisionConnect – utilizing superior automation. Example of utilizing System Tools: get directions from the office; confirm APN property ownership, connect to an external document management system.
The San Mateo County Environmental Health Department was awarded the Brilliant Use of System Tools Award for their use of a script to access and create e-files. An advantage of using the EnvisionConnect to access e-filing is that there is less room for error since it uses the ID number for the record. Also, the process is much faster than searching through the drive for the correct folder. The system tool has enabled us to all staff to e-file as the process creates the folder structure eliminating the concerns for misfiling.

This award went to an agency that stood out in excellence during their implementation project by rolling out the EnvisionConnect in a short span of time.
The El Paso County Department of Health also stood apart from other nominations this year because their agency has been fully engaged throughout the process and has the full support of everyone in the department to make this implementation a success.
When it comes to leadership and innovation, this agency was a cut above the rest.
The Ventura County Environmental Health Division was awarded the Influential Innovation Award for their Press Agent site. Ventura’s cross connection testing website features a dynamic form generation tool. When a tester needs to print a test form, they can access the Press Agent site and search for the cross connection device. On every device, it has a detail page that contains a link to print a test form.
