"Excellent and most helpful info, as usual."
"In 2005, the Cape May County Department of Health (CMCHD) selected Envision from Decade Software Company as the next generation of data collection and reporting system for Environmental Health Services. The CMCHD was using an internally developed application with limited reporting capabilities. The conversion of available data and introduction of field based data collection provided results far beyond our expectations. In 2011, the CMCHD converted to EnvisionConnect.
The integrated data collection and management reporting capabilities within Envision/EnvisionConnect revealed many truths and myths about inspections, time management, and costs of services previously unavailable. It was truly a situation of 'we don’t know what we don’t know'. Using the daily data provided by inspectors, we realized there was a significant cost recovery gap with the fees we charged.
The results provided us with justification for fee revisions to reduce the cost recovery gap.
The reporting and management features of Envision/EnvisionConnect allow us to instantly determine our progress with inspections each year, identify violation trends, improve consistency of inspections among inspectors, and reply to requests from the public for information. The seasonal business activity in the Cape May region doubles the number of operational retail food establishments for a 3 month time frame. Envision/EnvisionConnect helps to clearly identify seasonal facilities and track their inspections assuring that they are inspected within the limited time.
Staffing has been reduced in the past few years due to budget reductions and other issues. The staff reporting features have significantly helped determine where inspectors can improve their productivity as well as identify those inspectors that exceed our expectations. The improved inspector productivity has allowed us to maintain a higher level of capacity with reduced staffing.
The constant monitoring of environmental health trends and technology strategies by Decade Software Company has allowed us to focus on our core business of public health inspections. Decade Software Company’s ability to leverage information from their many environmental health clients assures that the latest requirements and capabilities are provided within their support agreements. We look forward to implementing other features, such as web reporting of inspection results, financial management, accepting online-applications, and remote hosting services as time and funding allows.
Decade Software Company has been a great partner with CMCHD, and has assisted us in assuring that all of our environmental health programs have the necessary information to provide the best service to our community."
